Overview

What's Your Brain Age? ("the Quiz") is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide your brain age estimate and do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII).

What We Do Not Collect

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Your IP address (not logged or stored)
• Your precise age (we only store an age bracket)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Any information that could identify you personally

What We Collect

• Age bracket: A range (e.g., 25-34) rather than your exact age. This is used to compare your cognitive scores against age-appropriate norms.
• Device type: Whether you are on mobile, tablet, or desktop. This is used to adjust for input latency differences between touch and mouse/keyboard.
• Lifestyle responses: Your answers to four lifestyle questions (sleep, stress, social connection, mood). These are stored only as categorical values (e.g., "7-8 hours") without any identifying context.
• Cognitive test scores: Aggregate performance metrics from each task (e.g., median reaction time, number correct). We do not store raw trial-level data.
• Session ID: A randomly generated UUID (universally unique identifier) that links your quiz responses together. This ID is not tied to any personal information.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use a single essential session cookie to maintain your quiz state during the assessment. This cookie contains only your random session ID and expires when you close your browser. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or persistent cookies of any kind.

Third-Party Services

We do not currently use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. In the future, we may add privacy-respecting analytics (such as PostHog) to understand aggregate usage patterns. If we do, this policy will be updated accordingly, and no personally identifiable information will be shared.

Data Storage and Retention

Quiz session data is stored temporarily to generate your results. We do not maintain long-term databases of individual sessions. Aggregate, anonymized data may be retained for research purposes (e.g., understanding average scores by age bracket).

Children

This quiz is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
